I was thinking about it the other day. I don't mean remake it but use scenes from the episodes and cut it down into a movie.
This isn't something that not happened before, this was done to an anime called Shinzo (or Mushrambo as it's called in Japan), they cut the 2 series into 2 films. However for someone like me knowing which scenes were which it was kinda of tricky to get into since I'd notice when scenes or large parts were cut.
Just the animation in 03 Astro Boy is really fluent with some 3D elements in there with the flying and so forth, and sometimes has that movie feel.
What I'm wondering is, if the anime was re-released as a 90 minute movie, with redubbing, the original Japanese track and storyline uncensored, would you pay to watch it on the silverscreen? And if so, why? :3

Yes, of course!
However, I'd like it even more if they didn't just take stuff from scenes from the series, but re-do a film based on the '03 series. Really, there WAS a 2005 AstroBoy film based on the '03 series ('AstroBoy vs Igza') but it never was made into English and wasn't as successful as they hoped in the movie theatre in Japan itself.
And the '03 series was my personal favorite, too.

I think it could work pretty well considering how much filler that series has.
Triton of the Sea had 2 movies, but they tried to cover as many episodes as possible, and as a result covered too much ground too fast. Jungle Emperor was also cut into a movie early on but I don't know how well it worked.

@April
I wish they'd do it instead of Pluto, although I'll most likely wind up liking that movie when it's done and become a Pluto fan afterwards. But, I like being stubborn x3
I'd love to a cool Astro Boy film the good old fashion anime way, and I mean you look at certain elements in the 03 anime and it's got the film factor (the introductions and endings as an example) but with that Astro vs Pluto fight you can tell they put a sweet bit of their budget into but because at points they really very fluent
It's just a shame nobody's thought of turning the 03 anime into a film yet.......*looks at Tezuka Productions*
I SAID! IT'S A SHAME NOBODY'S THOUGHT OF TURNING THE 03 ANIME INTO A FILM YET! *hint hint hint* XD

For me, I'd prefer an actual series over a film, but then its just my opinion.
Its doubtful that they'd even think a film based on the '03 series itself (as much as I hope they will) since its been such a long time. It flopped in the US due to poor broadcasting by Animax and Kids' WB, and lets face it, the U.S. is one of the principle markets in terms of film or television series
