Yes because we're ALL going to book a flight to Hong Kong and go visit Imagi Studios afterwards. Great advertising!

And what I can't get is how Astro can be waving to the Peacekeeper! Vice Versa.

: Oh hi giant mutated robot that killed Toby and nearly me with the rest of the city!
Also if you look closely, Astro's name is on the chair XD

OMG!! I remember seeing this in the theater, but never checked it out, at home. Glad you took a closer look, Acorn! That is VERY funny.
Right about now I think Astro would be giving them the finger and a 21-butt-gun salute!!

Haha yeah April XD
And it might be Uran&Astro1980, I got this from my Japanese dvd, so who knows.
It's actually terrible, Imagi didn't translate ANY of the text into Japanese. I mean how are they supposed to read it and gets the jokes if it's all in English? (like with Grace's hat and the 'he's a robot' written on the floor) It's like when Atom reads the book, the Jap voice actor says aloud "Da vinci" and "Flying machines" just to help, but it's a shame.
The only thing they did change was this for the intro:

Back to dubbing, it's done beautifully, but the lip sync hasn't been changed either so the voice actors have to really work hard to make their voices match up to English words. Most did really well except for Tenma's Jap voice actor who sounded great, but completely out of sync.
But really, if you're making a film on a Japanese character and you're expecting it to win over the hearts of people in Japan, then you gotta do a complete translation for them, not make them settle for second best!

Oh man, that ending picture!
My brother and I had been tipped off that something special was at the end of the film, and having shown up o see the movie on opening night, we sat through the credits for I don't even know minutes. We both sort of expected a teaser trailer, or bonus footage of Uran being born or something like that.
And then that came up.
My brother later told me in the car, "I don't even know if I want to go to Hong Kong now."
@Imagi not translating things: I think that's usually left to the DVD company to subtitle visual jokes, but if they didn't even supply them for the theatrical release, they're...unprepared.

Eh, you have to remember virtually everyone in the world knows English now. The folks in Japan were probably glad to see English text in there, so that children would get some practice. English text was also common in all Astro Boy anime.
And yep I've seen that picture many times, as I always stay through credits unless I really hate a movie and want to forget about it as fast as possible. It helps that the Astro Boy soundtrack is AMAZING, though it's commonplace for credits to showcase the best music from any given movie.

Hmmm, I don't think this is true. Even in the Internet generation, it's surprising how many people have problems only reading English.

Even in the 60's series?

Yeah, the 60s series too. Or at least that's what I've read in the Astro Boy Essays
