Astro Boy Premium Box Set Pictures

Postby Alittleacorn » 14 years ago

The following pictures are from the Limited Edition box set on the Astro Boy film that was only released in Japan.

Image
So here's the whole complete box =3

Image
This is what covers it, just slides off. Which ever way you turn it shines  _

Image
Shiny box too, all the words, Atom included are inscribed on the box *¬*

Image
Side view

Image
Here's everything as it inside the box. All of it comes out. =3

Image
This isn't much, but it was on the outside the box when it was wrapped in plastic, I just held onto it x3.

Now wait for it

Waaaait for it...

BWAHAAHAHAHHAHAAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL MINE!!!!!

This is glossed on one side and papery on the other, meaning it could easily tear if it accidently got pulled too hard. I haven't opened it much, but thinking about framing it, not for show but to protect it....okay and for show XD

As for what it says, some of the words are very clear while others aren't, most seems just some flashy words to fill up the page. Like Astro's name is apparently swords man, the pie chart has things like soil, water and other things for plants? o_O; you need to water him apparently. Oh but it did mention Astro's rockes run on solid fuel. Nothing on machine guns, I was sad about that lol!

Image
This is that blue part that comes out. This dvd has the storyboard of Astro learning to fly (some of this was shown in the making video on the english dvd) there is also lots of art from the movie in there as well, if I recall the color code art that they used to get the lighting right for scenes. Most you can find online if you look hard enough.

I haven't looked in ages, but there was one that showed Astro's clothes torn and him in his classic costume when captured by Stone. Maybe they were thinking of having him in the outfit for the remainder of the film but opted out......(sob)

Image
This is what it's all on, little plastic protective case too.

Image
Back of cd case, wittle Trashcan x3

Image
This is on the other side, I have...no idea what this is XD.

Tezuka Osamu's Original "Birth of Astro Boy" Motion Manga, on something called a microSD. I think you plug it into your phone and it plays. Problem is...

Image
I got no way of looking at it x_x. But hey, still a sweet little thing, even has Astro on the chip thingy lol.

Image
This is the back of that. Very cute small case.

Image
This is a reel from the movie where Astro is powered up, I think this thing might be random for each boxset since the one on the sight showed Elefun and Astro together. It's supposed to be a bookmark, figures since books in Japan are smaller in size I think, but like I'm gonna use it for that! XD

Image
A post card (i'd be crazy to post) of 80's Astro, I've got it tucked up on my mirror ^_^

Image
The back, not really interesting but meh. XD

Image
The dvd itself and boy is that an epic cover!

This has both the English and Japanese dub with subtitles of both languages, although the English subs don't translate the Japanese dub...shmoo.

You can buy this dvd on it's own for a cheaper price, however it doesn't come with the extras like we have. Talk about torture eh?

Image
The back

Image
This first dvd contains only the movie

Image
While this second dvd has the extras. The two deleted scenes haven't been dubbed into Japanese but did have subtitles, and the only extra is an interview with Tezuka's son and this other person. They discuss Astro's design and the reasons why the changes were made. There was no translation for this, but there were some screenshots of Astro's many stages of design with larger/smaller eyes, his nose, and his anime eyeslashes on his cgi model.

I'll need to take pictures of it sometime, but trust me when I say this, Astro is BETTER as he is, not with the creepy thick 5 eyelashes and the scary faces on that dvd! o_o

Image

And finally Tenma's notebook, or rather artwork and there's a lot!. For that reason I'm only going to post up a few of it's pages. My favourites XD

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg172/Sapphirelights/Astro%20Boy%20Limited%20Edition%20Boxset/26.jpg
And the bobbing heads XD.

In all, can't say either dub is better than the other because both sound great!

Astro, or Atom's voice actor did great keeping in sync, however having him played by a women sort of bothered me. Sure he's been voiced by women in the past but after hearing him voiced by Freddie Highmore, a guy, it's weird hearing a chick's voice and for a robot kid of 13. Although I understand why they did it, since for the Japanese dub Atom was made to appear younger. Eat that 03 censorship! XD

Lip sync was an issue with Tenma, he sounded GREAT just didn't work well lol. Elefun was wonderful also, and suprizing President Stone didn't sound annoying the Japanese dub which was good. Astro's teacher (sorry I forgot his name) is the same guy who did him in the 03, so it brought some heart back into the character hearing him. =3

Japanese Cora was just....blah, just didn't have what Kristen Bell. Oh oh and Hamegg was great! sounded kind and father figure at the start and worked when he turned wicked and cruel.

The Japanese was also made to sound more serious, so when those robots are fired at by the Peacekeeper, they cry out as they explode, and there's real panic in Tenma and Toby when he's about to die. Some extra speech is added in there every here and there, even Zog speaks before his big line in the Robot Games. But best part must have been when Atom's machine guns come out and he/she cries out a 'Ow! that hurt! What the!?', can't really blame the kid.

But seriously, the Japanese version is worth buying. There are cheaper versions where you can buy the film on it's own (but still costs a bit o____o; ), but dude reguardless I seriously recommend it! both dubs just sounds awesome and you'd be paying for the English and Japanese so not so bad ^^; unless you already got it then whoops lol

This is the boxset I got
The film on it's own
The film in blue ray

That is really cool! :D

There are SD cards where you can plug a micro SD into it and you can plug the SD card into a laptop. There are some phones that do have micro SD cards.

Gee, I never thought that the limited edition box had this much good stuff. I actually kinda would like a copy of my own, but that will never happen.

It won't all fit in my scanner, my scanner only does one page, those blue prints are way over that. o.o I could try maybe a little at a time though or take a closer up shot tha might work.

Dude, I mentioned it at the end of the post XD I got my copy from Yesasia.com I've brought stuff from there in the past so it's a safe site. Only downside is if you live in America your region code will be different so you'd either have to have a special dvd player to watch it, or rip the dvd itself so you can watch it on your computer.

I'm kinda lucky, I'm in the same region code as Japan
