Here's another hint since the dance could be on multiple animes: the plot involves throat cancer.

@atoms_gf: The DSi and the DSi XL can have Flipnote Studio. On some of them, the program is already built in; others will have to connect to the DSi shop by Wi-Fi to get it (for free). I still think the DS lite rocks for own one too! (Along with the DSi XL)

The show, Full Moon Wo Saga****e, is about a young girl named Mitsuki who wants to be a famous singer. However as the hint suggested, she has throat cancer but is able to remove it. But if she does, then she loses her voice so she refuses. Two Shinigamis named Meroko and Takuto come to warn Mitsuki of her death a year from then but end up helping her furfill her dream before the death comes.

That's a rough summary.
