I found this video of a guy who is whining because apparently Entertainment Weekly found Astro Boy to be "more compelling" than Pokemon

@ Dr. Jerk -- good point -- here is what I wrote as a comment:

Please don't let your fondness for Pokemon rob you of exploring the grossly under-promoted Tezuka/Astro Boy "universe." It is cleverly disguised as a "children's character" -- I discovered it as a 10 year old child, but was immediately caught up in the themes and complex psychological make-up of the characters. If anything, I think Astro Boy is the most under-rated of all fantasy/sci-fi. It's actually ageless in it's appeal and message - far beyond a simple good vs. evil. Give it a chance!

Not at all. I like Pokemon myself. But at the end of the day, one is a story about the fight for equality, and the other is a 30 minute video game ad. No Offense to Pokemon fans

Lol. As the Pokemon anime, movies and various manga have shown, it always isn't about the battles.

Of course part of it is, but not always.

Ehh... well I mean if this guy likes Pokemon and everyone else here likes it then that's fine I guess. I use to like when I was very young but now I'm not into it.

But I personally think that this person is an idiot for trying to say that pokemon is more compelling. Like I said, if anyone on here is into that then that's okay. When I look at Pokemon, all I see is an overrated anime with no complex story and feels like it was made for the sole purpose of promoting they're video games and trading cards. (Same thing with Yugi-Oh)

But overall, Astro Boy as far as I'm concerned as a far better story and better characters. Maybe the logic and complexity of the Astro Boy story is too complex for him and he can't even manage to grasp it. But Pokemon is, I'm sorry if this offends Pokemon fans but that is just how I feel on that. Maybe he just saw the movie, hated it, and didn't bother watching the anime.

What's this person going to say next? Gray's Anatomy is more compelling than Black Jack?
