Watching the movie over again made me think of something I've always wanted to have a discussion about but could never find anyone willing to sit down long enough and listen. Humans have a culture. We have a lot of different cultures actually. What about robots? Do they have a hierarchy like we do? Like the the robot with the most horsepower is in charge or gets all the robot ladies? Do robots have their own 'Robo-Grocery Stores?' I ask this because in all of the series...AND the movie...it is implied, that though limited do to human prejudice, robots have their own sort of..sub-culture thing going on. What do you guys think? Give me some descriptions of what you think if you can.

"I'm going to the robot barber shop to get my hair cut! Then it's on to the Robo-Swim park!"

Hhmm in the 03 version there was segragation but in the 80's version the were trying to desegragate it. I wouldnt know about the 60's version.

List of to do things today for little robot man with a mere 10,000 HP

• Polish president Astro's boots
• Go to the Robo-Grocery store (actually called Part-Source) and get some energy cells for fuel flavoured smoothies.
• Attend weekly Robolation meeting
• Recharge (ooooooohhh yea!!!)
• Reduce, reuse, recycle

That is an interesting question, SpaceCookie; Atom's papa is obviously on welfare, as most we see of him, he is reading the newspaper; we never see him going to work.

Japan is or was a collectivist culture, as the belief was that the people existed to serve the Emperor, but not in a socialist sense of collective ownership. Thus, everyone had a function in society, & was expected to remain at that task. Whereas in the West, we value horizontal relationships, friends & such, in the East they valued vertical, that is elders, & responsibilities to them. Thus, they apparently lack words for brother & sister, but have them for elder brothers & elder sisters.

So where would AI robots fit in such a culture? Tenma & Baribari thought that their creations ought to obey them, just as children should. Humans feel that robots are inferior to them, & must obey.

As far as interrobot relationships go, when the humans fled earth in #193, the other robots elected Atom president of earth. For the most part, they seem to put ambitions aside for the greater good.

I have no clue on this one

The first thing is wether robots value qualities like strength like we do, since, unlike humans, who have career choices, they are confined to the job they were built to do. Construction bots would never really figure out how to fly an aircraft... For them, is being strong something positive, something negative or something that is merely required for them to do their job?

I highly doubt that human would want robots to start to think that some are better than others...

... but I didn't really answer the question, did I?
