HERE IS PROOF POSITIVE THAT 1980s ASTROBOY DID IN FACT AIR IN THE U.S. IN 1986 ON A UHF CHANNEL. (WTGI CHANNEL 61--PHILADELPHIA/WILMINGTON) First pictures taken from a VHS video paused and the camera was on an angle to the TV screen when the photos were taken, clearly showing the call letters of the channel they were broadcast on. [THESE ARE NOT PHOTOSHOP.] Next are pages from TV Guide from Sept. 13, 1986 Phildelaphia edition showing the listing for Astroboy; revealing its time slot
(10:30 am; weekdays, Mon. thru Fri.) [ALSO NOT PHOTOSHOP] Any questions?

My mind is officially blown.
NOTHING MAKES SENSE ANY MORE!!!! D:
On an off topic note; WOW! I remember those days when you had to use TV Guide to see what's on before Fioz and Direct TV had it built in ;p

Awesome finds, Astrobuddy!! Where did you get the TV Guide?? I'm almost 99.999% certain they had a write-up about AB when it first appeared in the 60's.
One other thought: UHF always came in lousy, so -- realistically -- how many of us could have watch 80's Astro? **sighs**

On eBay of course!
Yes, I agree, the quality of some of the UHF channels was pretty "lousy". In the case of "Astroboy" the only way one could have watched it is if one was within receipt of the broadcast signal for a channel airing the show. I have been trying to find other stations that broadcast the show outside of this one station. I do not think it aired in the New York area; at least as far as I have been able to determine. But at least this is proof positive that the show did air in the U.S.A.

Ah yes, the good ol' days of having to play with TV Antennas or "Rabbit Ears." (Hugs his Fioz box)

Yes, if we had had Fios back then, then it would not have been so difficult to prove that 1980s Astroboy did air in the U.S.A. And it was the same English dub that aired in and was very popular in Australia. I tried getting recognition for its airing in the U.S. so I sent the photos with a letter to "Animerica" magazine, one of the best known magazines for anime at the time, (I believe some time in back in the nineties.), and they did not even print it continuing to give false information re: Astroboy's airing in the U.S., that to this day some do not believe that 1980s Astroboy did in fact air in the U.S.A.

Sorry, the version that aired on the WB is the 2004 version. The WB did not exist until !995 and did not begin airing cartoons until the Kids WB was started in 1996. Believe me, if Astroboy had been airing in the 1990s, as I live in New York, where the home station of the WB, (now known as the CW) is channel 11, I would have known about it. But as far as my research has been able to find, the 1980s Astro Boy was only picked up by a few UHF stations and I have only definite proof of only the one at the top of this thread.
BTW nice to hear from you Jayrath. I was watching the Astroboy Vs. Atlas episodes of the 1980s Astroboy and thought you were really good as Skunk in the "Atlas Lives Again" episode.
