ZONE's versions of the Astro Boy theme

Postby Shiyonasan » 13 years ago

That is, the endings to the '03 anime.

Does anybody else like these versions of the Astro Boy theme? I remember watching through the '03 anime and really liking both versions of the song. They really put a new spin on the theme while not changing it too much. I especially like the faster version of the song, but the ballad version is great as well.

Here are the songs if you're not familiar with them:

I... have never watched the 2003 Japanese version, I had no clue that the theme of the 1980 series had been used for the 2003 series! :o hmy: :blush:

I also like them, they are very dynamic, and how could I not like them when they trigger so many good memories? :) Even the ballad version reminds me of how it's been used in the 1980 series. :D

Both are good, though I kind of prefer the ballad version. It's kind of cool to hear such a well known song being given the ballad treatment, if you know what I mean.

I saw those a while ago, I think there's a longer track of the ballad version too. I sung to it once ^^

Yeah, that video was the only one I could find of the ballad version. It's really a shame; I would love to hear the full ballad version.

I agree. It really gives you a feeling of nostalgia for said well known songs. It would be cool to hear it live.

Well, I personally can't speak from a nostalgic POV, since I only got into Astro Boy recently. I can however, speak from a different prespective;

You see, for whatever reason, I like the sound of 50's and 60's music. I don't know why, but there's some unique, almost corny charm to it that I can't help but love. And whether or not it's manipulative or not, because it gets me in a good mood, and makes me feel that all is right with the world.

The Astro Boy theme song sort of falls into that category, so to hear such a song like this being done by a modern band and done well is a nice treat for my ears.

I was speaking more in general terms, not just in terms of Astro Boy.

I can relate though, since I just got into Astro Boy earlier this year.

I am that way when I listen to music from the '80s or '90s, pretty much for the same reasons you stated.

I can understand liking to hear a modern version of a song from years past. It is always interesting to hear a good modern interpretation of a classic song, such as the Astro Boy theme, even if you don't have a sense of nostalgia for the song (like you and me).

Agreed.

Actually, it's funny you mention 90's music, because something like Celine Dion is very nostalgic 90's music for me.
