Anime News Network wrote:Manga/Anime Artists Draw Tributes to Osamu Tezuka

Kouta Hirano, Nozomu Tamaki, Taku Kitazaki, Keiichi Tanaka, others contribute

Thursday was the 23rd anniversary of Osamu Tezuka's death, and many Japanese manga and anime artists posted images on the Twitter and Togetter websites to remember the "God of Manga." The creators drew characters from Tezuka's works such as Astro Boy, Black Jack, Phoenix, and Princess Knight for "Manga Day."

Here are some of their contributions:

[Section omitted.]

Tezuka's Black Jack manga will return this year in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine this year. The North American publisher Digital Manga is raising funds to publish Tezuka's Barbara manga in English, and his Hidamari no Ki manga will also receive a live-action television adaptation.

Here are most of the Astro Boy pictures from those sites. Decided to post links so I wouldn't take up bandwidth and also to give credit to the original artists:

Uwawawawa, a lot of these are really cool and/or cute. My favourite is probably this one, it's so touching and sad.
Skunk's dialogue in the last panels from the comic in the 20th link freaked me out a bit.

Cool but kinda weird to name it an anniversary though i tend not think about that date to much just the thought that i never get to see him makes me hate that date.

Rather just think about november 28 wich is his actual anniversary.

Kind of interesting that you brought up the anniversary, because I thought it was kind of weird that they did this for the 23rd anniversary of all numbers. I almost would expect something like this for the 25th anniversary instead.

You have a good point though in your post. Next year is the 85th anniversary of his birth, so they might have some kind of tribute next year.

I didn't click on all the links, since I'm took lazy with the computer I'm using without a proper mouse. I got worn out through the scrolling on some of the artrwork links.

Red used for tears, which looks like...blood. Intense.

I don't know if you read the comic the hard way by translating it yourself? But all I could translate was "Astro's not perfect" under the comic's page. What did it say?

(Yay, broke my posting fast, finally. :) )

The picture with Tenma and Astro is really nice (then again, I really like how Himekawa drew Tenma in the 2003 manga). And the one with Astro and Akira's Tetsuo made me laugh.

I rather like the one of Tenma and Astro myself; it's a very haunting image, as if this is Tenma's greatest fear for his child.

I wonder if maybe the spilt blood is there to suggest that maybe without Astro, Tenma feels he has no reason to exist.
