So, as usual, I was catching up on my Astro boy by reading some comics, when I found out he has a brother named Cobalt... I was really suprised so I watched some of the 1963 episode to only realize he was in those too! So all of a sudden, I was tempted to watch the 1980's series to see if he was in that, and he wasn't! THEY TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT COBALT!!! I was even started to wonder why they didn't bring him back in the 2004 series, but they didn't!
My question is why not?
Why leave Cobalt, who I've grown to love, out of the equation???
He's gotta special place in my heart just like Astro and Uran/Zoran have.
I think Cobalt is under esstimated!
And now, they don't add Uran/Zoran in the movie!
Are they gonna get rid of every character I've known to grow and love!

Cobalt was not alone in being excluded from the color 1980s version. The youngest member of the family Chitan (Titan) who debuted in episode 165 A Great Fuss Over Babies,

& was seen in many of some of the succeeding episodes, was also fired; though he was reinvented for the Jetter Mars series.

I share you frustration Astrogirl927, I feel cheated out of Cobalt (much better name than "Jetto" as he was called in the US dub) and Chitan - I'd really REALLY love to see new episodes with both of them back with Astro and Uran.

What has been said is that Atlas "took Cobalt's place" as Astro's "brother" - I guess the idea of an "evil twin" was more appealing to Dr. Tezuka in the 80's.

@ Jeffbert - Where was "Chitan" in Jetter Mars?? Does he appear as a baby brother to Miri and JM?

well, all I know is if, with just a bit of luck, that they make another astro boy t.v. series, that who ever is producing it, that they would bring back cobalt and chitan/titan! all I did last night was watch 1963 episode with his brothers in it.

Hi, everybody! You know reading this thread one can't help but think to thank Jeffbert for his posts. I believe there were no more than a handful of episodes of the original series that were dubbed into English that feature Astro Boy and his "older" brother and none that feature his baby brother Ti-Tan.

So if it weren't for the threads of the 89 that Jeffbert posts every now and again, we who don't have access to those episodes would probably never see those episodes.

So hats off to Jeffbert for the Astro Boy family "snapshots"!

I  :astro: :)

Melchi is the JM version of Titan.

See 13 Honey, The Robot Transfer Student for pics of Melchi.
