Studio Nue co-founder Haruka Takachiho reported on Wednesday that Noboru Ishiguro, the veteran director of such works as Space Battleship Yamato, the first color Astro Boy anime series (1980), The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and Legend of the Galactic Heroes, has passed away. He was 73.

It was a year ago this month that the 1980s anime lost one of its staff as well.

Although I never really knew about him, I do know about those series he directed. There are some pretty big names in there. Definitely a big loss to the anime industry.

May he rest in peace. I shall remember him as I'm watching the 1980s anime tonight.
