Been reading the manga of late and was wondering if the rumors of Astro Boy manga going out of print was true or not. I hope not because I only have vol 1 & 2!

Yeah, you can check Amazon to see which are out of stock.

jmb2891 provided a link not too long ago for the rarer volumes, seems expensive though: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?bsi=0&kn=astro+boy&sortby=0&vci=55973276&prevpage=2

Might be best just to get an iPad and the Tezuka app though.

It's not really a rumor though it has been available for over 10 years there are books out there who go out of print in like 2 years.

If i where you i would blow my money on them now while you still can because it's clear Dark horse doesn't care about them anymore.

Unfortunately, the books are slowly going out of print. If you want to get your hands on some spare copies, then I'd suggest hunting them down at your local comic book stores. If that backfires, then proceed to either look for used copies on either ebay, oe half.com (ebay's sister site).

There are a few on Amazon that are brand new for less than a dollar. If I remember correctly, so far, only volumes 5, 10, 18, & 22 are over $5 (though check Barnes n Noble for 5, on the marketplace there I got it for $10). Books-a-Million has vol. 10 listed for $9.99, but after a month they cancelled the order. :(
To F-Man:
Yeah, they're still crazy expensive on that site, too, unfortunately.

I'd avoid the really cheap copies. Even when in new condition, they're most likely a 2nd hand market which does not support the companies and the franchise. And the reason they can sell so low is that Amazon charges more than necessary on the shipping for marketplace sellers.

Thank you. How many volumes are out there? I just bought the 3rd vol for under $3 before I heard any responses from you. I'm just loving Tezuka's sense of humor in them!

I have always wonderd what you really support when buying from vendors i do it all the time but have they not already payed for the product and just reselling it many profesionals would have more than 10 copies of a product available brand new but that doesn't say much to me for some reason.

Also Amazon shipping rates from many vendors are crazy esspacially if you gotta ship it to europe i tried to get some Tokyopop series in my hands but if i have to pay more for the shipping than the product itself for such a small pakage is that really worth it ?

Aren't there certain websites where you can read old manga? I know I've looked at Pluto online sometimes..

There are several of those sites. I guess if push comes to shove, I can always do a search and see which carries Astro Boy.
