I think I've located a diary of a 1960's Tezuka employee!

I found this via Google translate, and if you go to the end of the entries, and click the 1965 buttom, he talks about applying for his job at Mushi.

In addition to things like the weather, this fellow notes what anime were in production, who visited the offices, etc. I'm guessing he was an animator, but I don't know for sure. The translation is awkward, but I found this to be pretty fascinating . . . he was THERE when all this was just being 'born' - Astro, Kimba, Wonder 3 . . .

Do any of you have an idea who this might be? Obviously someone went to the trouble to post all this on the Internet, as it took place a good 40 years earlier!

Looks like his name is Jun Masami. Seems to correspond with his internet handle, McsammyJun. If you click on "Bulletin board" on the bottom of that page you posted, you'll see his name in some of the entries. Seems he also runs a blog as well.

Pretty interesting stuff, AprilSeven. Thanks for sharing. :)

Stumbled upon a reference to THE BEATLES, & thought their performances there may have inspired 149 Can Capriccio, but they came some 20 weeks later.

Yeah, I saw that too and wondered the same thing!

Another reference cited "TV Guide" coming to interview Tezuka. I KNOW I read a brief article about AB sometime during that first year of broadcast (my mom actually pointed it out to me - "Look! Here's an article about Astro Boy! Did you know that cartoon is from Japan?")

There was an image of him flying (in black and white, of course), and I vaguely remember references to Fred Ladd and NBC but I didn't care about that, I wanted to know more about my hero!!

I still hope to uncover that article some place. SOMEBODY has to have it!

That's really amazing although i wished there was more than just the summaries of episodes, but a verry amazing find you got there, there are only so much things from that time left let alone pepole that worked at Mushi, Only why is there still a part in the translation that isn't translated ?
