Look at the "spikes!" This is Osamu as a child!!

This wonderful movie, on Viki, has subs part of the way through - it's called the Tale of Osamu Tezuka - I am Son Goku - and it's a very touching story of his life as a boy.

Goku was HIS "Astro" and for every one of us who have been bullied and teased for who we are, and for all of us who have suffered difficult times and terrible losses, this movie "explains" why Tezuka's works touch us so -- he was very much like us. Goku was his inspiration - just as many of us turned to Astro.

According to the notes on Viki, this is what he was developing while on his deathbed. I guess he "promised" Goku to create a manga movie of him . . . and Tezuka Pro delivered his lifelong promise posthumously.

I'm late, but nice finding!

Yeha that's a touching movie Tezuka did a series a movie and a manga about Goku before one co produced with Toei (1961) however his involvment was wasn't huge but years before in 1952 he created a manga about it and later on a anime series around 1967.

I was supposed to sub everything surrounding the "Son Goku in Space" part, but right in the middle I suddenly needed a big long break from Viki and left it hanging. =(
