Astro Boy Movie Message

In my opinion the movie had a very important meaning to it.

The meaning in my point of view was:

Life is too hard, it's not always easy to find your place in the world. Life is challenging and you will surpass difficult times. There are always obstacles you have to go through to achieve the things you want, in other words you have to work hard to get what you want in life. Discover your passion, what you really like to do. Do what your heart tells you, if you want a job get one that you enjoy doing, don't do it because someone told you. ( ex: don't do it for the larger pay) Life is too short, it may be not as long but be thankful for what you do have. Be positive and always keep an open mind. Be resilient, courageous, and respectful. If you treat others the way you want to be treated you will get alot in life. Don't judge a person by their actions, get to know them first understand them and you will become friends. We are all different in some ways but be can all be friends no matter our size, height, color, religion, or language.

Thank you for your appreciation, Sincerely Racoonangel

You pretty much summed it up, there, racoonangel. ^^ Though the movie might not have the same kind of emotion as maybe people were expecting, it still had a fair amount of emotion nonetheless. (In my opinion, at least. Or maybe I just tear up too easily, I dunno.)
But I love how they incorporated the theme of "finding yourself" throughout the film. Pretty fitting for the direction they decided to go with the whole thing. :)

I knew that there was a discussion of this beforehand, and I found the thread. Here's the thread that older members here have contributed to:

Meh, it's an old thread. I just happened to find it easily enough, cause it's pretty buried at this point. I figured newer members might be interested in reading what some other members that don't really contribute much anymore, or at all had to say.

I still stand by what I said then too, that Astro sends a message of strength and acceptance.

I can't say I cried although the ending does pull on heartstrings a little. That is, until that alien thing at the end. I was left confused by the randomness of it, I still am

That alien thing reminded me of the Artificial Sun episode.

I cried, and even my hubby fought back tears. (but yeah, that eye-ball monster kind of broke the spell, and not in a good way, either :rolleyes :)

The message . . . yes, stay the course, and keep moving forward, an embrace your destiny as it unfolds, even it isn't what your heart might have hoped for.

In both this movie, and at the end of the original anime, Astro "found" his life and destiny, by being willing to "lose" it. That's not advocating death for a higher cause . . . but having such faith that you go forward in peace, confidence and a sense of joy (remember how he peacefully closed his eyes and thought about the joys he had in his brief life as a robot as he flew defiantly into the red core of the Peacekeeper). For Astro, it's all about the ability make a positive difference, and not let his own tragic/heartbreaking situation overwhelm him and rob him of the good and joy he's found.

I can think of no other character or person in fiction or real life who brings that home to me so powerfully.

:astro:
