I wish the forum had a search engine to find topics on old threads.....
I had found a link to an old thread here via google on Astro's hair spikes. I also found this old Calvin and Hobbes strip:

which was rather funny (he should have drawn a door panel on his chest not a face....) In the previous comic he had asked his mother for crisco ....

I remember when the 2009 movie came out there was a newsclip on tv about some hair salon that was doing Astro Boy hair cuts for kids. They must have used up several gallons of hair jell that day......

Atom's hair style is pretty unique.
Though, some people may mistakenly draw them in the same fashion as Uran, lol

Atom is drawn with the higher spike on either the right or left side. I know that part of the confusion is due to the fact that Black Horse comics printed the original art work 'mirror imaged' so the book would read left to right as in the US. Viz correctly printed THEIR mangas in the Japanese / Hebrew style reading the pages from right to left with the book spine on the right hand side. Printing the pages in mirror image flipped atom's higher spike to the other side of his head. It SHOULD be correct in the anime, but the studios sometimes might have put the cells in the camera upside down to get a reversed image to avoid having to draw twice as many cells. I think Cobolt's hair has both spikes on the top, but different from Uran's.

It does. Take a look at the dark blue horizontal bar, there are the following items: User CP, FAQ, Rules, Members List, Calendar, New Posts, Search, Quick Links and Log Out.

I remember a discussion a very long time ago about where his spikes were supposed to go, and how it was an animation trick that both were always supposed to be shown even though it would have been technically impossible in real life.

Somebody made a rather cute animated GIF from a clip in the 1980s series, in which :astro: turns his head left & right. I think it is in the AVATAR thread.
