Because some just mentioned this story:
Image

In the last episode, Dr. Y was lost; Miri tries to console Mars, but he flees, to be alone in his sadness.Mars considers him his papa, & goes in search of him. While he is brooding, a puppy licks him, as he turns to follow, the mother dog comes for the pup, reminding Mars that his papa is missing.

Now Lamp draws Mars out, with promises of helping him find Dr. Yamanoue.

Though it is difficult to see the resemblance with only the few frames I provided, that sequence is obviously modeled on one in Devil's Balloons.

I think this is the only time Mars seems to have super hearing.

As I pointed out in the other thread, note the fountain statue with Astro 'taking a leak'.
(In the frame with the patched up rocket taking off from in front of Mar's house).
Also Tezuka seems to like control panels with Piano keys (same thing in the artificial sun episode of Astro boy). I know Dr. Tezuka played the piano (and was supposed to be quite good at it).

Astro's statue really looks like Mannekin Pis.

Actually Astro tries to pass himself off as a Mannequin Pis in Dark Horse Vol 6!

Question is . . . was he DOING that or is it an optical illusion! :p

Astro was clearly standing in the middle of the fountain.

There's a statue like that in a Tokyo subway station http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c8/Hamamatsucho_20030913.JPG/800px-Hamamatsucho_20030913.JPG

I think he was merely standing next to the flow, rather than producing it.

Thanks a lot for sharing, jeffbert. I do not always have something specific to say in your topics, but I appreciate them very, very much, always. :D

You're not supposed to throw out the Lamp with the bath water!

 Lamp? Bathwater? Wait a minute...
