Broadway?

My wife and I went to see an off Broadway (VERY off Broadway, like in downtown Fort Lauderdale.) production of "The Addams Family". As we walked from the parking lot to the theatre I noticed posters for other productions scheduled for later in the year. One was for a musical play based on "Scooby Doo". Seems like a lot of cartoons (Addams family WAS a cartoon strip before it was a TV show and movie) are being adapted for the stage.
That's when it hit me. Astro Boy, the musical on Broadway? The first scene that hit me was Dr. Tenma singing about the genius he was and about the glories of science. Another scene that came to mind was Astro siting forlorne in the circus singing a lament. I wish I could write music and lyrics! Heck if Spiderman can swing on the stage why can't Astro fly across it!
What do you think of this idea?

I'm kind if mixed on my opinion on it. Some people I can't imagine would sing (like Dr. Ochanomizu), but others I would love to sing. If they could put Uran's theme in there, that would be ADORABLE! I think if they had a good writer who new what he was doing and a good cast, they could pull it off.
They could give them more "Pluto" type designs to make not easier to dress up.
(Oh you really got me going with this now!)

I've got the "Astro Boy March" done by the cincinatti pops with Eric Kunzel off the Telarc album "Young at heart". Wow they did a wonderful rendition of it, sounds like a full brass marching band! Now THAT would be in there for sure!
And yes, Uran's theme from the 1983 series is great!
I wonder.... Nathan Lane as Tenma?

Ooh is there a link to it online? I'd like to hear it!
I think Nathan Lane is a bit too... nasally sounding... to play Tenma.

My other idea for Tenma would be Robert Downey Jr. (but I don't know if he can sing)

Oh ok. Robert Downey Jr. sounds like a better choice. I actually think he'd be great for Tenma.

I've got another idea: Patrick Stewart as Dr. Ochanomizu.
He CAN sing.
