Here at last is the last Astro Boy manga appearances drawn by Dr. Tezuka.

In 1986, Tezuka created "Atomcat" as a way to reintroduce "Astro Boy" to the public. True in this manga series "Astro Boy" is only a supporting player, or more accurately a catalyst for "Atomcat" stories, still the series is interesting because here at last Tezuka was creating his own "funny animal" strip. (After all one of "Astro Boy"'s inspirations was "Mighty Mouse".)
The manga is published by Digital Manga inc, the same outfit which has also released in English other "Astro Boy" material.
I got my copy from eBay, but I am sure one can also buy copies form Amazon.

Below you will sees the front and back covers of the manga along with some scenes of "Atomcat" in action. The book is published like a regular manga; meaning you read the book from right to left as one would a regular manga from Japan!

I  :astro: :)

I just ordered my copy from Amazon, & found 2 volumes of Triton, 1 of Twin Knights, & Mysterious Underground man. I forgot which titles I ordered via kickstarter or other similar thing, but only Twin Knights seemed to ring a bell.

I suspect NUKUNUKU was inspired by ATOMCAT, though I had at 1st thought HOT DOG CORPS was the inspiration. :D

Someone posted a fan sub translation of this before (seven stories IIRC) and I've read that already. Atom Cat was one of my inspirations in creating the fan fiction AU for Atom. In Atom Cat, the Astro manga exists inside of the Atom Cat manga (and so does Tezuka himself). I took that idea and used it.
Does anyone know how many separate stories are in this published book? I'd like to buy one myself, it looks like Amazon might be my best bet.

I have read that; I wonder if ATOMCAT compares to Doraemon, at least in the area of the trouble they cause for the boys?

Yes there are only seven tales (pun intended) in the English language edition of "Atomcat".

The stories bring to mind the Godzilla movie, "Godzilla's Revenge"! In that one, a small boy is being bullied and he imagines he is friends with "Minya", Godzilla's son, who is also being bullied. They give each other the strength to stand up to their respective bullies. (Yes I know that is not exactly what happens in "Atomcat", but there is a minor similarity.)

Any way I thought I'd post the cover of the Kodansha edition of Atomcat, along with the DTM cover.

HI- ASTROBOY IN his robotic form would be so cute being able to transform into a kitten version of ATOMCAT or a puppy for show and tell for ZORAN at her school! OR even cuter as a cute female doll for ZORAN to enter in doll shows and play with!

PRAY EVERYONE THE VERY BEST ALWAYS!
