Does anybody remember the name of the city that the ministry of science was supposed to be in? Was it a fictional city, or did they pick a real place. And how far from the Osmau Tezuka museum would that have been?
I'm trying to nail down some geography for my story here.....

I'm pretty sure it was set in Tokyo.

There is actually another city that claims that honor. I think there is a subway stop there that plays the astro boy theme on the pa whenever a train pulls into the station.

Takodanobaba Station, I think...
Also, the original series was set in Tokyo, and Atom was honored as a citezen in another town (I can't recall the name, but it has something to do with Tezeka and his early years) on April 7th, 2003.

I think that Takodanobaba is correct, I remember that the station was in the city or town where Astro was supposed to have been 'born'.

I think you're thinking about the town where he was made a citizen.

The only reference to what city the Ministry was in that I noticed in the Dark Horse comics was the mention in Tenma's backstory that appeared in Ambassador Atom and Once Upon a Time Astro Boy Tales (the first story and the origin story.) I'm not sure about anything.
Graduated from the University of Nerima and... rose to be the head of the Ministry of Science-- in an area of Tokyo known as Takatanobaba...

Takatanobaba is probably what I was looking for. OK it's technically part of Tokyo as Brooklyn is part of NYC.
This is part of the reason why I DIDN'T want to try to write a story that took place in Japan. I'd make a fool out of myself getting the landscape all wrong. However, I'm not going to be able to avoid that completely. I have a story planned that WILL take place there. I've asked for help with that.
