Sept. 7 has come and gone. Sept. 7 is the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of "Astro Boy" in the U.S. The first broadcast of "TetsuWan Atomu" outside of Japan. Happy Anniversary, Astro Boy!

OMG my age is showing cause I remember watching it first run on Ch 5 in Nyc.

Actually it's from Ladd and several other sources. "Astro Boy" first aired in NYC TV syndication on channel 5, a local VHF station (at the time with the call letters, WNEW), on Saturday, Sept. 7, 1963 at 7:00 pm EST.

OMG my age is showing cause I remember watching it first run on Ch 5 in Nyc.

I too, watched "Astro Boy" in its first run back in 1963-64.
AprilSeven is another one who caught "Astro Boy" in his first run, so happy anniversary to us!

Actually I somehow missed the very first episode.

WNEW never re-ran it either AFAIK, though they did re-run most of the other episodes. :mad:

The very first one I saw was #2, "Colosso". I didn't see the first episode until maybe 45 years later on Youtube. :astro:

The perspective on that box cover stinks. Astro and Uran look like giants!

Yes, I saw it from the start too . . . after that, I couldn't take Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera or the others to heart. Only Astro!!
