The Anime movie, the Iron Giant appeared in 1999. In the 2003 Astro Series, Episode 12/11 (Japanese/ELV) called Reviving Jumbo has a giant robot that kinda looks like the image of the Iron Giant. I wonder if the producers of Astro Boy got the idea for this episode from the movie?
