Hey it's Proto Dude. You may remember me for being the animator of that Mega Man VS Astro Boy fight. So I picked this up at a bookstore recently
Its actually just a series of books featuring Astro & Uran talking about important historical figures, which is much better than what I initially thought.
I also got this book since it was cheap
If anybody is interested I can post scans later.
PS I really wish I would stop being accused of disliking Astro Boy and being biased against him just over the outcome of my Fatal Fiction episode. Smh

Huh... This is very interesting. I would like to see more as it sounds very intriguing (and probably not offensive and filled with inaccuracies like other anime/manga attempts to portray Western history IE Hetalia).
I don't think you dislike Astro Boy at all! I disagree with your outcome but I don't doubt your love for the little guy. This is the internet though and people will be outrageously sensitive towards things, and will often jump to conclusions and accusations simply because they don't have to stop and think before they speak as you have to when you're talking to someone face to face.
One of the unfortunate downsides to the internet.

Yes, at first I had a little shock too!

I like the idea. Thanks for sharing. Just out of curiosity, when were those published?

I think our public library has some of these books. I'm going to have to check.

Our library has the Ann Frank and Albert Einstein books in the system, I just put them on hold. I'll try to scan a few pages and post them here.
They could have done the Bethoven book with Tezuka's Ludwig B character

The books were published in Japan in 2003, likely to coincide with the release of the anime. The translated volumes by Kadokawa are from 2006. Here are some screen shots and I am sorry about the poor quality.
The back cover.

Astro Boy and friends are only featured in a few pages at the beginning, such as these.

The books do a good job of informing you about historical figures even if they can be too dramatic. The bulk of each book follows the life story of these historical figures and has nothing involving Astro Boy.

At the end of each book there is a q&a section.

While the books may have been released at the same time as the 2003 anime, from what I can see, the artwork more closely resembles how Astro appeared in the manga, and the 1963 series. Is that Mustachio as Napoleon on the bottom?

This is very interesting indeed. Who did the art for these books?

It depends on the book. Yoko Miyawaki illustrated the Anne Frank volume, but Naoko Takase illustrated the Beethoven book.
