Two interesting things about this episode.
First there is a scene where Astro is lying broken on the ground and is discovered by the king's daughter and she takes him to a robot scientist to be repaired. While she picks him up and carries him off, in the background the slow, tender version of the Astro theme music is heard. I think the only other time in the '60 version that I've heard this particular rendition of the theme was in the very last episode. (#193).

Also guess who played the robot scientist?
(Minus his Beret and nose pimples, but I'm sure it's Tezuka).

I always thought those bumps on Tezuka's nose were supposed to be Blackheads. Anyways, I don't think I've ever seen this episode before. (and if I had, I probably just forgot.)

What do you mean by tender version of Astro boy theme? Do you mean like a distorted version? (Sometimes, the BGM sounds a little wavy and distorted.)

Well technically blackheads ARE a kind of pimple.
By tender, I mean played slowly in a higher pitch. It sounds less like a march and more like a lullaby.

I did listen to an astro boy theme that was from episode 1 in the original japanese 1960s version,but it kinda freaked me out since the song sounded a little slow and disorted. It was the BGM for Atom's birth.

The background music in the Japanese version of the 2003 series where Astro is in Tenma's old house and he sees a 'vision' of Tobio is the same way.

Wonder why? I guess they did that on purpose in the 2003 series because it was supposed to be a little shallow there. I didn't really watch too many episodes in Japanese much, only like 2 and a half or so. I'm thinking about re watching them in Japanese someday because I heard rumors that they cut some parts and one episode called "eternal boy" was never aired in the US because of Disney and Tezuka Pro. Problems.
