Canadian Dubbed Astroboy

Worlds Greatest Robot. The U.S dubbed version was not only wooden and generic but horrible voices overs. The head guy ( Canadian name escapes me ) was dark and sinister and and had a deep scary voice.

ROBOTS

Gerhardt or dubbed U.S Zeron was named Golden Larry in the Canadian version and Epsilon (Photar in the English dub) was not only not addressed as a female robot in the Canadian but his name was Luminousness! \\

ASTRO'S sister was named SARAH

Professor Ochanomizu. Dr. Elefun (American dub), Dr. Cole Green,
Canadian Version Professor Peabody

In the Canadian version I seen the father dies of his injuries due to the tank cathcing fire and exploding etx in the first show - when he sees Toby an sends him on his way thats the last we see of him .. because when Pea Body finally finds him after the circus and Peabody is explaining to someone to tthat mustache guy that he didn't have the heart to tell Astro than and there that his father died of his injuries

I kind of like the idea that Tenma dies, and I kind of don't. I suppose it is how sad Tetsuwan Atomu is in general that got me hooked. Oh, and how childish Atomu is.
I did not know Astro Boy had a CANADIAN dubbed version.

Do you know when precisely this was dubbed? Also are there any clips on youtube for some examples of the dub?

It is interesting though how some clever editing can ultimately change a story.

I remember seeing like two Canadian dubbed episodes on youtube a long time ago, but I don't think they're up anymore. I wasn't too keen on some of the name changes, but the voice acting was pretty good. vwv

Video

dubbed an aired in 1982

At the end of every show Astro gave his daily adventure in the form of a digital voice over log to a server/computer named Geronimo which logged it for the institute archives and the viewers would have to guess where Astro purposely gave inaccurate info to see if viewers had been paying attention

for some unknown reason the video is broken into 3 parts by the uploader and 3/3 is accessible from here in Canada on youtube but not 2/3 or 1/3 you may have better luck it's either U.S or Japan country of origin maybe a proxy server with a bogus IP address ? http://www.veoh.com/watch/yapi-6_38u6i84Zc?h1=The+Canadian+Astro+Boy+-+Astro+Fights+Aliens+(2%2F3) this is a website that links to the actual youtube video that for some reason doesn't come up in uploaders list :( Jun 21, 2012 - Uploaded by HakkiriMotto. I'm gonna message him and be curious where he got his hands on this Canadian version it looks VHS quality and no doubt avi. formatted from a VHS and uploaded to the net I might be BE ABLE TO USE THE LINK AND PUT IT IN ONE OF THOSE YOUTUBE UPLOADER ONLINE SITES

Oh just some clips and sound samples of the voice acting would be sufficient. Not whole episodes (this site does not allow for postings of whole episodes unless it's on a legal channel such as Funimation's official youtube channel or crunchyroll).

Thanks for the information though, I had no idea that it was dubbed in Canada.

Thanx for the heads up but this is just 5 mins of the end of the show not even...It just basically shows how the ending was different than the U.S or Japan versions with the inclusion of Geronimo the institutes computer and you play a guessing game with Astro to see what mistakes he made in his daily report/Adventure ....I for one like Professor Peabody name the U.S ones are spins on the Japan version and just as bizarre and difficult to say IMO

cool. I think I've heard about the Canadian version before.

And yes, I agree with you about how the 1980s series was a bit wooden and generic in a way. The voice acting was poor and I didn't like how they merged episodes 1and 2 together. They also cut some scenes.

btw, Canadian's language is french isn't it?
