Trailer for Live Action Tetsuwan Atom

I found this link on Youtube that seems to be a "trailer" for the 1950's live action Tetsuwan Atom show. It has some anime in it that came out of artwork that Tezuka did as an introduction to the birth of Atom in the Manga.

Yeah, that's the opening. I don't remember precisely if the animated bit was in every episode but it's definitely in the first.

Got to say, I like the theme song used in this video. And the animation's not too bad either for the time. Everything else though, I don't know.
Not that I'm saying it's bad, it's just that Astro Boy just doesn't look good in live action, at least not the way it's presented here where they're trying to make him look exactly as he does in the manga. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

I like the Tezuka animation here. But that live action atom...its a bit strange. (And creepy a bit.
) I think I remember seeing this opening a long time ago, actually. I think I also remember watching a short clip of one of the episodes once. (Though, the video was horrible. It had bad quality and it kept on freezing like it was on a bad DVD disc or something.)

Oh wow. Wasn't Tezuka really disappointed in the live action version of Tetsuwan Atom?

HERE's my idea of an EXCELLENT Live Action Tetsuwan Atom:
Let a nine-year-old, super-cute little shota boy play Atomu.
And let him wear teither:
1. The school uniform
OR
2. Only the boots and underwear most of the time.
The second one sounds like a very good option. Very.
.....I SWEAR I'M NORMAL.
Sort of.

With today's CGI animation, Green/Blue screen background chromakey stuff, the flying sequences wouldn't have to look faked. I swear it looked like they hung a plastic model with bottle rockets or sparklers in the legs to film that version from the 50's.

I completely agree, that would be the best. I think that one's too old. Couldn't they have jut styled atom's hair into position too?? Instead they used a plastic thing that looks like Uran's hair.
