Previous adventure: 4, ATOM GOES TO MARS (LIVE-ACTION)

While GAS PEOPLE is the 1st (or 2nd, depending on whether "Atom's Parents" is listed separately) of the MIGHTY ATOM manga stories (AMBASSADOR ATOM is the 0th), in this adaptation, it is the final of 5 stories. I could speculate why, but you will need to buy the book for that!


Sadly, the 1st segment of this story was lost.




As far as I could tell, this guy was killed by the gas people; I cannot say more, as it appears that these 1st few images are recaps of segment #1.


Here is the 1st of the human leaders of the so-called gas people. I assume that he is as much a victim as the others who are or will be possessed by the gas.


i believe this is the driveway of Ochanomizu's home.


the boys seem to have information to share, but the guards send them away.




For those unfamiliar with these characters, Shibugaki wears the long pants, Tamao, the spectacles--




-- & Kenichi (here called 'Kenji') is the other boy.

Tamao is now possessed by the gas! What a great way to save on special effects!








Ochanomizu will attempt to expel the gas from the boy.






I beleive Atom is adjusting his super sensitive ears' gain.

I believe the guy on the right is Higeoyaji.

When convenient to the plot, the gas infected people can become invisible.







As far as I can tell, this guy is not even human, but a visible manifestation of the actual gas creatures.

I am just guessing, but it may be that since it seemed Atom had been destroyed, Ochanomizu just tossed his 'parents' out on the street, since they no longer had a purpose. Yet, I am very much uncertain of this.

This makes little sense as it is, but I had so very many images, I had to eliminate more than a few. Atom is feigning being under the gas' control, & having met Shibugaki on the street, who was delivering ramen, Atom knocked him on his butt. Though this makes us ask, why is the spoiled rich kid (as depicted in the manga, anyway) working an after school job?




Tawashi, I assume.

















These two roles will go to Butamo Mackeru & Magneto-chan (the girl with the bow in her hair) in the 1963 series. Actually Mackeru had the role in the manga: The guy in charge of the reservoir & his daughter.

Atom's design in this is horrible. I don't even recognize him as Atom. Is he wearing an ASCOT? Does anyone else want to see Tezuka's face the first time he saw this design?

HA HA HA HA I know it's the 50s and they didn't have much to work with but...
