For those of you with any new iOS devices, such as iPods, iPads, or iPhones, this might interest you. It's a shmup similar to Space Invaders. It just got released the night this thread was posted.

EDIT: A Google Play version will soon be available to purchase as well, though no release date has been announced.

It is a robot rampage! We need you Astro Boy!

The world is under threat. Rogue robots are causing havoc, leaving no one safe.

It's at times like this, that you need to call on the worlds strongest robot and greatest hero: Astro Boy!

Control Astro through hazards like robot waves and missile bombardments. Keep an eye open for huge, hulking Death Bots, who wield giant blades and destructive cannons and lasers.

Fortunately, Astro will not be alone in this battle. The dire straits have called to arms even the unlikeliest of allies, as you can play with Atlas, The Blue Knight, Professor Ochanomizu, and even Dr. Tenma!

Gameplay:

- Move Astro and use his cannons, to blast through wave after wave of robots, in an attempt to make as much ground as possible

- Power Up your characters with Power Blasters, Magnetic Shields and much more

- Beat Death Bots to gain access to the helpful Assist Bots. These Bots will grant bonuses like missile shields, or point boosters.

- Compete against friends, and players from around the world

I was about to get hype, but it seems like it's only available for download in the New Zealand iTunes shop; I'll have to make a NZ iTunes account somehow. (I mostly became attentive after seeing Tenma's in this.)

one of the youtube videos indicated the game is also on google play, but I didn't see it available from my android phone.

Whoops. I think I missed the part in the article I got this from where it says that the new apps come out at 11:00 PM Eastern Time:

Now it should be available according to this article.

EDIT: It also says that it's going to be released on the US app store. No mention of a release outside of the US. I don't know if you'll be able to play it if you live in Canada, Fauna.

The description in that video says that the Google Play release date is "TBA", so it doesn't look like it's available yet on that platform.

This looks really nice, the graphics are smooth and I love the background and colors (I pay attention to stuff like this).

I'd love to play this one day, but sadly I do not own any apple products or tablets. Just my computer.

When the android version comes out I'll get it for my motox and will try to side load it on my Blackberry (BB10 phones have a runtime emulator for android apps) I already side loaded angry birds.

I was going to note about how it's surprising that Dr. Tenma is a playable character, but then I noticed something else. His hands are missing, and have apparently been replaced with laser guns (or something along that line). When did this happen? Did he have a rough patch with Astro while trying to sell him to Hamegg's circus?

I would imagine he's just wearing gloves with laser cannons in them. Dr. Ochanomizu is similarly equipped. And you can also play as Atlas too.
