Is anyone familiar with this Japanese "Music Video"

I found it posted on YouTube, it seems to have lot's of the Tezuka star system in it (Sapphire, Melmo, Blackjack, Pinoko, Ochanomizu, Kimba, Unico, Rock, Hosuke, etc.

BTW Dragonrider, Sapphire briefly appears nude in this :d evil:

I think there is a thread on this.

I'm pretty sure there is another thread on this but it is very very old and dusty and starting a new thread can generate more conversation (when appropriate) rather than digging the older threads out. So while we generally don't want threads to be repetitive sometimes it can be more beneficial to have a new one started up.

I think I saw this years ago and was terribly sorry to have not liked it much. I might have to watch it again to get a better opinion on it  Sometimes it takes me a while to warm up to something (I also don't remember much about this video other than at the time I didn't like it).

I thought it was more of a music video that a true spin off story from the Astro cannon. Not understanding the Japanese dialog didn't help me here thought. While the wiki claims that Atom is recreated as a combination of Rock and Himself (thereby the name Ratom) he DOES appear side by side with the Ratom character in the ending sequence, so it appears that Ratom is really a clone of Atom rather than a metamorphosis.

Oh and note that one of the three musicians looks like BlackJack (at least he has the same two tone hair!).

I had actually watched this not too long ago and found it pretty hard to sit through. The version I watched had Spanish subtitles so I was able to use a bit of my high school Spanish to understand the short a little more than if it had no subtitles at all. I wasn't expecting a great story but it was still too corny for me and I didn't care for the animation much.
I don't know anything about Ravex but I kinda expected this animation to be something like Interstella555 (also an animation using a band's music but for a full movie) but they seemed to just reuse the same 2 songs?

Also, I remember that musician calling Black Jack, or in this version Space Jack, brother.

I also remember having an issue with the animation when I watched it. I'm sure if I see it again and look better at it I'll have something positive to say about it but for now I just have nothing

I found the original CD+DVD which contains the video (plus a few others) on ebay and just ordered it.
(My DVD player has been hacked and should play Japanese DVD's)

Oh, I know of the infamous Sapphire bath scene XD Honestly, it's the best scene in the short :P
I thought the animation was fine if a little... jagged. It was the story that I found strange. What little of it I could understand. Kinda came off as Yellow Submarine with Tezuka characters but it's Ratom that really baffled me.

Yeah, that is a perfect way to describe it! (Yellow Submarine).

Dragonrider1227, I posted a composite of that Sapphire scene on the 18+ forum. I took two frames from the video and overlapped them to make a complete image.

I remember when Ravex in Tezuka World came out, actually...it was such a big deal that it was coming out, but it wound up being kinda disappointing. What was up with the guy having a thing for Melmo (whom transformed into an adult but she's still...9...), the bath scene, and Rock + Astro = Toothpaste Astro?

Not to mention a lot of people's favourite Tezuka characters being promised roles, but then only sitting in the background or having 1-2 lines at the max.
