For a long time (until Jeffbert started posting images from some of the missing episodes from the '63 series that anyone outside of Japan never saw) it was believed that Atom never had the arm jets in the '63 anime.

Here is another example of the arm jets, this one is from "Demented Cobalt"

 It seems he had no MANGA leg jets until his ADVENTURE ON MARS!

Do you have any documentation on the manga story order? Also the very first story wasn't his birth so do we talk order of publication, or time frame in the canon as the later was published out of order?

Sorry, it's in Japanese.

You might try the Tezuka site's page for the manga, or look for my own list on T-in-E. :p

It depends on your purpose, whether to go by publication date or otherwise.

I guess I'm more interesting in the over story arc time line rather than actual date of publication. In the case of the anime, the two are more or less the same I suppose. In the Manga, Tezuka never really did publish an 'origin' story for Atom until much later when the first collections of reprints came out. I assume he published the overall canon time line rather out of order. To make matters worse, the BH collection is out of order in publication order, and except for the origin story being in the first book I have no idea if it is in canon order.

But getting back to when the leg jets first appeared, I guess that was early on in either story order anyway.

I now wonder if the arm jets appeared in any story that Ladd translated and he cut those scenes out?
BTW, there was also a 'butt gun' scene in "Demented Cobalt" as well. And Cobalt seems to have his own unique weapon with electro beams out of his spikes. Astro also seems to have developed a "shocking" handshake in the later stories as well!

Do you mean the overall manga corpus, or the individual stories?

I guess I mean the overall story arc over the entire Manga, IE: a chronological order of events, the logical order in which the stories actually would take place, not the order in which they were written and published.

In the Shonen manga, they are one & the same. Shonen (Boy's) was the first magazine to publish Mighty Atom, & published most of the familiar / adapted to anime stories.

It looks like he's spoopling something.

I like the arm jets. He uses them pretty well, anyway. I think I've seen plenty of scenes where he uses them against something when he's cornered, either that or his legs.
This is kinda unrelated to everything else :hyo:
