While it's Astro Boy's birthday, it is also Astro Girl's birthday! After all she was the "Strange Birthday Present!" (At least in the original series!) So, Happy Birthday, Astro Boy and Astro Girl!

That hadn't occurred to me, but you're right! So I guess Uran is a year or two younger than Atom. Now if we could only fix a date for Kobaruto's birthday.

Like Tetsuwan Penguin, that had never occurred to me either. Happy Birthday to Uran as well! Guess we'll have to wish both siblings Happy Birthday in future years.

The date of the episode he premiered in was on November 7, so maybe we could use that date? It's nearly impossible to figure out the exact date when the chapter he premiered in was released, and we can't ask Tezuka what his birthday is anymore.

Was that the date it aired in Japan or in the ELV? I'd take the Japanese date as official. If that is the date, then his birthday is one day after mine!

Japanese date. Specifically, it aired on November 7, 1964. Depending on what time it aired in Japan, it might've even been November 6 over in America!

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that. Happy Birthday to Uran too!

It matters not when the story itself began in the manga, but when he first appeared/was activated in it. Of course, unless we can talk to someone who was around at the time and has that specific knowledge, we won't really know exactly when that was. All we can do is make approximations based upon the time frame that the Dark Horse volume says the story ran within. It supposedly started in June; depending on how often it ran, and the length of each part (and these things were supposedly edited when fitted into volumes, too, weren't they?), it could mean he has a June birthday, or a July birthday; probably no later than that. (Although, August isn't entirely impossible. I just give him the same birthday as me most of the time, unless I'm contemplating an AU...)
Of course, that's using real-world times... We have no idea what the date was within the story canon itself.
As for Uran, I'm not sure she was a birthday present in the manga, so much as just a present in general. Cobalt reappeared alongside her, and was treated as new, even though Tezuka rewrote the ending of the Midoro Swamp arc to keep him alive. I'm still confused by this...

I happen to be watching, "The Birth of Astro Boy", the first episode from the classic original anime series and noticed that (at least in the English dubbing), Astro Boy is activated exactly one year from the death of Astor Boynton III; so that Astro Boy's birth coincides with the anniversary of Astor's passing.
