I need some help, here; this is really bugging the crap out of me...

I found another video. It ain't nothing too special; just clips from the movie thrown together with some kind of techno-whatsits kind of music. See here:

See, nothing big, right? Naw, the interesting part comes right at the end. Where the heck does THAT particular scene come from?? I've never seen it before; I can't find it anywhere in the movie itself. I haven't ruled out the possibility of differences between DVD and Blu-Ray releases; I even just thought of the fact of differences between regions and countries (although something in the film in another country that's not in the original seems a touch unlikely). I have no idea if there were ever proper deleted scenes; indeed, it seems like such an inconsequential thing to cut, it makes me wonder what was the point of it, even- unless it was originally part of a much longer sequence.

I would like to know if anyone here knows just where in tarnation it came from. It's bothering me so much, not knowing, that I'm getting all Southern in lieu of my usual swearing (you can't do that in this part of the forum, for some inexplicable reason; but believe me, the sentiment is still very much there).

I'm gonna try and grab a screen of it, meantime...

Edit: here we are.

In the end he threw screws. Now that's a little new!

Yeah, but I don't know what he was doing holding the nuts in the first place... it's heavily implied even in the few seconds alone that it is related to violence on his part, simply because of the setting in which this takes place. But it's not in the movie anywhere! Not as far as I have found...

Maybe it was after the battle, and just picked the left over the robots that he fought with.
And nub! I never saw it in the movie, I wonder that comes up in Japanese. (Sub)

I mean, the English always gets the cuts, but I don't know about movie, or maybe that's just an extra...I guess.

Considering it was an American-made movie, I highly doubt that any American release of it would've gotten cut. Although the version I'm used to seeing might not be an American version; I have no idea. It's in English, but...

Thinking about it last night, I thought that it might be just a wee bit familiar... I first saw the movie years ago (probably more than five, by now; but I digress), when I asked my mom to rent it out of the local Redbox (of which now there are several). I may have seen it then, but I dunno...

And yeah, it's quite clear that this was probably after one of the fights. But I've combed that particular scene as thoroughly as I could, and it's not there. :T

This is getting to be very frustrating for me...

I'm going to have to look at that scene on my DVD and compare it with your post tonight. I might be able to run the two side by side on my computer as I have two monitors.

I, er, have a means of checking already. But by all means, do; I'd like to know... And, if you have the DVD, then that means you have access to the special features that I do not... Although if I recall rightly, unless the rental is different from the commercial release (which, given some of my past experiences, is entirely possible), this movie does not have any proper deleted scenes, other than those that were turned into shorts. Not as far as we know, anyway (that was such a bare-bones release...).

I wonder if that scene was made for a teaser, you know the coming attractions shown before the movie is released. Often these teasers are made before the final editing of the film is complete, and often some of the scenes used in them end up on the editing room floor, cut out of the film for one reason or another.

I can't imagine why, unless they just thought that these few seconds made the film a few seconds too long. That said, I wonder why such things were left out of the special features; and where this clip might be found today, in full, if at all possible.

Things get cut at the last minute a lot in movies. This is nothing new I don't think.
If this is supposed to be during his fight with the robot gladiators, then I'm glad this was cut. Because it's most likely pieces of one of the robots he just fought and from Astro's perspective it kinda feels like the equivalent of picking up his opponent's guts and tossing them aside like it didn't matter he just killed a guy. This seems out of character to me and probably why it was cut.
