Don't know if anyone is in or near Los Angeles, but I figured it was worth sharing this.

The Sacred Fools Theater Company is running a stage play called "Astro Boy and the God of Comics" based on Osamu Tezuka's life and Astro Boy from June 20 until July 25. Here's a synopsis from the company's main website:

This multimedia performance art piece tells the story of famed Japanese animator Osamu Tezuka and Astro Boy, his most famous character. This West Coast Premiere features interactive video, live drawing and stylized movement. ItÂ’s a whimsical, retro sci-fi visual extravaganza that examines post-WWII fascination with technology and destruction, and the relationship between creation and creator.

You can see more info on their site in the following link:

Also, here's a couple images of some of the actors and actresses at a local anime convention:

Just found a review of this stage play in LA. There's images included, though they are pretty small.

That looks really neat! Too bad I'll probably never get the opportunity to see it!

This year's Sakura Con had a movie showing with this exact title in the schedule, I wonder if it was in all reality a recording of this? (I knew I should have just went and checked it out instead of eating all that sushi)

It's a great show. Glad to see it's still going.

It's great that you saw it! If I get a chance to see it I will definitely go and see it.

I'm not sure if what was shown at Sakuracon this year WAS in fact this, but it has the exact name (the logical assumption therefore follows that it has to be this).

The thing is, I normally do go to all the Tezuka panels that show up, but this year I decided to do other things (like eat sushi) :whistling:

Sacred Fools just uploaded a photo album on Facebook of the stage play. They're in a lot higher resolution than in the review article I posted in this thread.

I must say, these costumes are something else (though not terrible).

They got Astro's spikes all wrong. That forward facing spike makes him look like a unicorn!
