Day ?

In the 1939 movie Wizard of Oz you might remember the March of the Wiggies where the witch's castle guard paraded in front of the draw bridge.

The Wiggies were played by 100 U.S. Marines from the 29th Brigade, 1st Marine Division based out of Fort Tusten Ca.

Of course World War II started soon after that summer and America entered the war on December 7th 1941.

Of the 100 Wiggie Marines, only 10 survived the war. The last Wiggie, Charles Kelly of Springfield Ill. passed away in 2004.

Hmm, It has been years since I saw the film, & I cannot remember that scene. BTW, the novel had everyone forced to wear Emerarld-tinted goggles, that were locked in place, so that the white city appeared to be the Emerald City. Moreover, the movie production co (MGM?) went with Ruby slippers because the silver slippers of the book were not sufficiently brilliant on film. :P

Walt Disney World's Cinderella Castle appears to be over 300 feet tall when seen from afar, but is only reall 150. That however, is still twice the size of Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Don't rush, the 5 minutes have expired, so now it's another one :P

The landing system on an aircraft carrier is called "Meatball"

Pilots calling in for the nautical directions required to line with the meatball request "Needles"

The person controlling meatball is called "Paddles"

If things go wrong and your plane crashes into the ship, they call the "slush wagon"

Chuck Norris almost won the 1983 World Series of Poker which is pretty impressive considering he only had a Ace of Spades, a get out of Jail free card a 7 of diamonds, a King of Hearts, and a green 7 from that UNO game. :P
