"The Hobbit" Filming to start next month - OH THANK GOD!

Postby The Tawashi Bus Hat » 14 years ago

With all that nice money from Inception and The Deathly Hallows, Warner Brothers is FINALLY going to start filming the movie that should have been made 10 years ago...
The Hobbit
:w00t: :w00t: :w00t: *explodes*

For those that do not know, the IGN movie news has circulated rumors of the on-off production of The Hobbit ever since April 2009 - maybe earlier than that, but I'm too lazy to check. Different problems continued to push back production, leaving fans of the Tolkien-verse to wallow in grief.

BUT NOW IT'S OFFICIALLY STARTING! :D IS IT LEGAL FOR SOMEONE TO BE THIS EXCITED? :w00t: *explodes again* Also, it's going to be a two part movie. :w00t: First part slated for 2012, second for 2013.

And so close to my birthday, too. Oh WB, how did you know this is exactly what I wanted?

Anyone else care? xD Call me a nerd if you will, but the LotR movies/books are some of my favorites and I remember the animated Hobbit from when I was a kid.

TL;DR : OMG THE HOBBIT~! *dies*
*dust*

I heard a couple years ago that they were going to make a movie and I never heard about it again, but there is finally some news that I'm happy to hear :)

The film was originally picked up by MGM to be made with Peter Jackson and Del Toro. DT dropped because of delays last year and MGM finally went out of business.

Last year, WB picked up the rights for it, along with Peter Jackson (along for the ride, no doubt lol) and got oodles of money this year, so production is starting next month OMG IT'S HAPPENING *explodes into confetti*

Is it obvious how badly I want this movie made?

I'm happy that it's going to be made too, but I'm not exactly an enthusiastic person. "Mr. enthusiasm" is what my mom calls me sarcastically. But I am pretty excited about it :D

How about ever since LotR came out. I'm glad it's getting made before Sir Ian McKellen kicks the bucket.

But yes, let's have a party! :D

I wondered why they hadn't done it to begin with. Nice to see they're finally doing it now =3

Probably because LotR is more famous and popular, and has a lot more world-building detail in general.

Oh and did I fail to mention? The producer I was talking about Saul Zaentz, owns all rights to "The Lord of the Rings"
That's his property. :w00t:  :ninja:

 I briefly studied the Tetralogy in a university class on MEDIEVAL [??] AND MODERN NARRATIVE; though I read THE HOBBIT in HS. It was a class in which I hoped to avoid any semblance of work, called NOVELS, PLAYS, & MOVIES. After that class, I eagerly read the remaining novels. The university class linked the evil forces to the rapid industrialization & its sweeping away of forested lands in Tolkien's home town. Yet, this class also covered THE RING OF THE NIBELUNG & King Aurthur's legends, so not much time was devoted to Tolkien. :p

I deeply regret that I had only 6 credits in English Literature.
