And the cruel irony is that Tezuka Productions chose to censor episode 20 "Eternal Boy" because it might infringe on "Peter Pan" by Disney :shifty:
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Nah they just censored that because it made Astro look too cute, and maybe the fact that Captain Hook guy kidnapping children to Neverland might've gotten the wrong message (also to note this is around about the year Michael Jackson got in trouble with the law for certian things better left unspoken on here).

Still, it's a shame that they never dubbed that episode, because Astro asks the question "Why? Though I can't grow, everybody can, isn't that good?". It really showed his fears of his friends growing up and him wondering if they'd forget him as adults. It really brought out a side of his character and an issue you don't see in the series. =(

I know I said I'd hate for Disney to get a hold of the Tezuka film after what they did with the Lion King, but Pixar would be a different story. Sure they're on a joined contract, but in their hands you know they'd do wonders.

Tezuka Productions didn't chose that. I'm certain that it was... whatever company behind the dubbing that did.

Yeah, it's been 17 years, but now is the right time to act. Disney is going down!

Seriously, for most of us, this has been around for most of our life now. This topic looks like some kind of breaking news.

Someone give this man a round of applause.

Seriously kids, it's been almost two decades, and there's pretty much nothing you can do at this point. I know it feels like you should, but really...when I was twelve, I thought I'd change the world by writing into Nickelodeon and warning them that I saw a bootleg Spongebob Squarepants toy at the dollar store. I think I realized as some point that - like in this case - there's no course of action to take, everybody knows about it, and the large companies don't really care. Besides, the event has been immortalized in The Simpsons:

"You must avenge my death, Kimba...uh, I mean, Simba."

One funny thing is when Mulan first came out somebody talking about it actually brought up this whole Kimba/Simba business in something I read somewhere about Disney once again paying "homage" to Tezuka comparing Mulan to Princess Knight.

Although apart from the obvious common theme involving a female character cross-dressing as a male, Mulan and Princess Knight couldn't be less similar to each other over-all.
