BODY OF FORMER B MOVIE ACTRESS DISCOVERED
This is a very sad story about a former starlet forgotten by the world and whose corpse was discovered in her home after her neighbor's suspicion was aroused when she noticed the yellowing mail in her mailbox and the cobwebs on the door of her house. It is a sad day for fans of grade B sci-fi movies. Some of you may have seen the item in your newspaper or on-line. I am referring to the item about B movie actress Yvette Vickers whose remains were discovered in her home April 27 of this year. The sad part is that her corpse had remained undiscovered for what may possibly have been six months to a year. For those not familiar with Yvette Vickers, while having had a minor role in the Billy Wilder classic "Sunset Boulevard", she is best remembered as the vixen named "Honey" who dared to fool around with the husband of and therefore received "The Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" and starred in another cult movie favorite, "Attack of the Giant Leeches"! It is really a very sad way to be remembered! RIP, Yvette Vickers!
It has been years since I saw leeches, but 50 ft was not that long ago. Yes, this is sad; TCM usually runs unscheduled films of deceased actors, but not so for Leslie Neilson, whom many remember from the Naked Gun & other comedy films. Yet, he started as a serious actor, was capt of saucer in FORBIDDEN PLANET.
Yes, it is bad that she obviously had so little dealings with neighbors that her mail was turning yellow. Too bad Cybotron left us, I am certain he would have something to say about this.
