Well-behaving horses are the ones you should fear :d evil:

This often occurs during obstacle races:
Horse: Afteeer you siiiir.
*horse bows before obstacle and rider falls*
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Yeah horses can be very independent!! The trickiest horse I ever rode was a thoroughbred (a retired race horse). He was very slender, nervous and did NOT want to join the trail ride. Finally he snorted, did an about face (shaking off all my "directions" with the reigns -he had done this before!) and he merrily pranced back to the barn, went right inside (I had to duck to not hit my head) and went over to his stall to get a bite to eat!

My favorite horse was Big John, a beautiful palomino gelding who was 16 hands high (I'm only 5'1 1/2" so we made quite a pair!). I'd bring him a couple carrots every week, and he got know me so I could call him and he'd come running across the field.

hmmm . . . after Astro Boy probably my favorite "escape" was reading the Black Stallion books. Anybody else? My other favorites were King of the Wind, and Misty of Chincoteague (both by Marguerite Henry). ooops - back to topic ...

How's Rio today??

Rio is fine and peppy as ever. I have to say he is a truly amasing first horse, I'm just wondering how he rides still but judging by how mello he nomally is he should be fine. Rio is about thirteen-fourteen hands (havent really measured) but I know Im taller then him by 3-4 inches (I'm 5' 8'' and growing) he is defently the perfect hight for me :) . One thing I think is cool about Rio is he doesn't wear horse shoes and he doesnt use a bit. Which I feel is alot nicer to the horse :)

I am not going to attempt to attempt to make the horse jump anything! I want to live! :p

The trickiest horse I ever rode wasnt that tricky at all. She was new to the ranch where I had been taking lessons and they wanted me to help break her old habit which was that if I tried to get her to step over the the logs. At first she would slow from a trot to a walk but then she stared going from a trot to a canter. Luckly though I was able to teach her otherwise just by keeping her head up so she couldnt fling it forward and start cantering. I've always thought it was amasing how quick horses are to learn and adapt :)

Glad to hear he's doing well. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with the little guy?
