Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I managed to successfully upgrade to Windows 7, and I do like the look of it I must say.

Now I just need to re-install everything...

I'm not, I don't like the user interface of Windows 7 :p

Anyway, that's a good thing you managed to install it, without wiping out your data I hope ;) Did you do a dual-boot with your old system?

@fafner

My computer was custom built by a college friend of my "step dad." He has a business of building and repairing computers. I mentioned that I wanted to upgrade my OS and he came by here on Saturday and I didn't get it back until the next day.

I don't know exactly how he managed to do it unfortunately. Now I'm running Windows 7 professional and he managed to save all my files, U just need to re-install my programs.

Only thing, is that I wish the icons on the desktop weren't so big.

As you can see there are a lot more programs on here now. Although I tried to install Oblivion (A game I previously had) and I needed a no CD/DVD crack. I managed to get a hold of one, but the program screwed up while trying to load and I had to restart my computer. Afterword I couldn't connect to the internet and the error said that the adapter was having internal issues. (Keep in mind I'm on a wired connection.)

I restarted my computer, router, and modem and that didn't seem to do anything. And my PS3 could connect to the internet just fine. So I restored my computer to the point before I installed Oblivion and that seemed to fix it. I'll probably need to find a different crack or something. Or maybe the files were screwed up or not compatible. The crack being a virus could also be a possibility but I scanned my computer and nothing came up and my computer seems to be working fine now.

I'll just need to find an alternate way to install Oblivion before Skyrim comes out.

Did you try some compatibility setup with Oblivion? Or try to install the latest patch?

No I didn't, I think that might be an issue as well. I'll have to look for the updates to make sure it's not that.

I can run Star Wars KOTOR just fine and the game was released in 2003, Oblivion came out in 2006. So I'm not sure if compatibility could be the issue but I doubt it, but again the files I have on my computer to install it might not be the version compatible with 7.

If it's not compatibility or out of date, do you think it could be something else?

If I understand correctly, the anti-piracy system is what is preventing Oblivion to work (you mentioned downloading a no CD/DVD crack). I have Oblivion, but never bothered to check how they verify the DVD is genuine (might be SecRom if I believe what I found), but it may involve a driver that is simply not compatible with Windows 7, in which case an upgrade might do the trick. You could have a look here or here, or search for "oblivion windows seven" on Google as it seems there are a lot of results. Some people are claiming that Oblivion works on Windows 7, so I suppose there is a solution, maybe as simple as updating with the latest patch.
