Now all I get is clothes (which i need) books, movies, a video game, and money. My dad said i am getting around $150 this year, but I used to get stuff like this. I would spend hours just to make them right

I have know idea how much my parents used to spend on us for our Christmas presents. We would normally get a big toy or two from them (the stuff that we really wanted like game boy video games and stuff  ), but it was my grandparents who went all out. My grandma would decorate the tree and wrap all the presents with my Grandpa then on Christmas day we would rush over there (about a mile away  ) and they would litterally have about 5 boxes of toys for each of us (normally barbies for me) and a huge bag filled with tiny toys (I could fit into one of those bags now days  and if you have read the height thread you would know I'm not that small) I still haven't opened some of those toys to this day  . Now days I don't ask my parents for much (I asked my ma for a sketch book and my pa for a dvd  ).

I don't know how much parent's spend/spent on our Christmas presents. :d oh: We don't have lots of money, but we at least get two-four presents each (mostly small-medium sized ones). :3 My mom sometimes even goes to dollar stores for our presents. So, I suppose, at least, we get about 50+ $ (for each of us) worth of Christmas presents (varying, depending on how we're doing with the bills, ect.). But, we do get a small item in our stockings daily until Christmas (like some candy or snack).

Anywho, as for what my siblings and I would get for Christmas... Usually I would get some dolls, drawing stuff, a purse (once), and whatever else they think will spark my interest. xD Not sure about this year, though, since now they know I like art stuff and anime/manga. My brothers would get airplanes, hot wheels, army men, Legos, Bionicles, and such. Recently, my older brother will get more digital items, like a USB or a game. My little sister would get puzzles, stuffed animals, anything panda bear or seal related (her two favorite animals), ect.

Every year I would say my parents probably spend around $100 on each of us (I have 2 siblings). Usually it would be a bunch of smaller gifts, and then one big gift, which was always the one thing we really wanted that year. (My parents actually somehow wrapped a bicycle one year, complete with bow!)

Here I don't count the gifts that we would get from santa... it was funny because my mom would sign the card "from santa" but she didn't even make the slightest attempt to disguise her writing, and it was quite distinct.

I remember one year getting money from santa. My sister and I decided to put our funds together so we could buy a Nintendo...
Yup, the origial N.E.S - I still have it and it still works.

I think one of the most memorable things of all though, would be the stockings - Painstakingly knitted by our aunt with our names on them, and always stuffed to the nines with little gifts. One year I got a slinky in my stocking, and I was excited because I had really wanted one.
I don't know what happened to the original stockings with our names on them, but every year my mom would always greet us kids at the door, and we could see the stockings hanging behind her.

Last year, one of the things I got in mine was a clock - it mimics Salvador Dali's artwork from this painting:

I love that clock. I'll miss those stockings, but I know that every Christmas I will smile because of them.

This year my brother and I are trying the no-gifts approach, and let me tell you I will not miss the busy malls one bit! :D

 So the loot is only part of the fun!? When I was a kid, it was the only good part. Though now, the most enjoyable part is watching the cartoons I loved as a kid. :p

Me? At most for one year, I got 100-200 dollars worth easy. Especially since my birthday is two weeks from Xmas, where its 50-70 dollars. I had plenty of gifts , but only a few have really been in my memory. The Zeo Megazord, Beetleborg figures, mansion and vehicles/base, and the Mighty Morphin' Chrome painted figures for the film with the VHS of the movie. Remember it distinctly and it was awesome .

After that , I could've cared less as Xmas became uneasy with having unfavorable uncle over, which we had to tolerate on and off each year. The two recent Xmas'es have been greater , being at my grandmother's house with family from my dad's side. They're the more even-headed and sane side.

It's why I'm a big Toku and anime fan today.

For the past x # of years, mom has hosted a Christmas get-together; there have been around 18 present. Mom had a custom dining table made some years ago, it has, I do not know how many leaves that together make it about 10 feet long, but still not enough room.

But as a kid, I cannot recall ever having a big or even small gathering for Xmas; just the 7 of us, 3 boys, 2 girls, & parents.

I remember my older sister taking the lead in peeling the wrapping paper just enough to see what was underneath. :santa: Gifts from :santa: were not wrapped, gifts from parents were; the latter were not things we requested, though; only the stuff :santa: brought. Mom & dad gave us things so as to get some of the gratitude that went to :santa: .
