In this episode, Melmo becomes unintentionally involved with shoplifters, when she moves into an apartment.

Here come the store detectives!

As it is NEW YEAR'S DAY, kite flying is the activity of the day. Tick & Tock bump into Melmo as they are apparently pursuing thieves.

The shoplifters.

Are they merely welcoming their new neighbors, or have they some other intent?

For those unfamiliar with this series, the boy on the left is an infant that Melmo has aged 10 years by giving him a piece of her magic candy. But, on the inside, he is still a baby. There is an inconsistency here, as in episode #13, Christmas Melmo, that baby did indeed seem to mature mentally in addition to physically.

Melmo has borrowed this apartment so her brother can fly his kite from a height that keeps it from becoming entangled in telephone lines, etc.

Dr. Waregasemu suspects that there is an unseen motive in people just letting Melmo use their apartment, but Melmo, being only 10, is naive & simply accepts the fact.

Tick & Tock (modeled on Abott & Costello, respectively) have tracked down the thieves, & assume they are Melmo & her brothers.

I forgot why Melmo became suspicious, but, there it is.

These are neighbors; Melmo is staying in the shoplifters' apartment.

"Aha! caught ya, red handed!"

I forgot what brought about these last events, but I will edit this post after figuring it out.
