It’s for this reason I want to show you this:
DmC: Devil May Cry like the Astro Boy film, is an origin story. Dante's had a tough life. The memory of his dead mother, fused into a pendant he wears around his neck, weighs on him like a ball and chain, while his father and brother's disappearance is a mystery. As a teenager he was stabbed in the heart during a fight, a moment that made Dante realise that he cannot die, that he is not human, that he is something else. Maybe he's a monster. He is truly alone, troubled, confused, angry, selfish - caring for nothing but himself.

"The demons are amongst us Dante, they are enslaving mankind. The world is asleep, brainwashed and helpless...we're fighting back."
DmC: Story Trailer
The story takes place in Limbo City, a contemporary town secretly controlled from the shadows by powerful demons, manipulating humanity through the comforts of life. Living on the fringes of the brainwashed society is Dante, a disenfranchised youth at odds with the demons who constantly hunt him, and have made his life a living hell for as long as he can remember. Over the course of his battles through the twisted streets of Limbo, Dante is contacted by The Order, a rogue group led by his long-lost brother Vergil, hell-bent on exposing the demons to the world and releasing Limbo City from their clutches. However, as The Order's principle reason for recruiting Dante is because he alone possesses a particular gene that can be used to combat the demons, he remains wary of Vergil and questions his intentions. While Dante fights alongside The Order, he will learn of his past and the family he never knew, while coming to grips with the incredible powers that come with being a Son of Sparda, a demon and the Son of Eva, an angel.

"There have always been angels, there have always been demons...and they've always been at war."
New York Comic-Con Trailer
Ninja Theory, the gaming company behind this, have gone through hell because of trolls hating on the rebirth of the Devil May Cry franchise that they are producing alongside Capcom. To understand why this game got off to a bad start, let’s try and put it in retrospect with Astro Boy. Imagine we got a new Astro Boy anime, but instead of looking like the Astro we know, he had white hair, smoked and looked like he needed a decent meal. Switch the white hair for black, and this is what fans of the original series were hit with when the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU1mCeq3XZ8]debut trailer first stepped onto the screen 2 years ago.

DmC has come a long way since then, enough that many who disliked the game's new modern day design instead of the anime are now fans of the title, like I am. Sadly there are still those few who hate senselessly to the point of trolling. Part of me is worried that DmC will be another Astro Boy repeat in failing to draw in a big enough crowd and if that were to happen, it would likely be the end for Ninja Theory. They like Imagi, are a small company, but what they have done for DmC is incredible that they deserve to be on the map. They have learnt much from Capcom in combat and their way of storytelling is worthy of a Pixar film.
I don't recommend something unless it's not worth it, and believe me this one is 100%. So if you, like me, are a gamer looking for a hack & slash with platforming and decent storyline to boot, I REALLY recommend checking out this game when it comes out January next year. A demo is coming soon on the 21st of this month.
Now I'm going to run...before I get told off for using so many gifs!
