
It's very unfortunate and hard to understand when these things happen. Just a few days ago I witnessed a cyclist get hit by a car... and I agree that people can be careless - but it's not always the driver's fault.
As a driver myself, I couldn't imagine bearing the responsibility of hitting a pedestrian, especially a child. It would be extremely traumatic. I'm not saying that we should choose a side, but maybe we just need to remember that this child, as unfortunate as she was, may not be the only victim. The driver that struck her will have to live with this his/her entire life. That's not an easy burden to bear. I guess what I'm trying to say is that hopefully everyone affected by this awful tragedy will be able to heal in time, hopefully be at peace one day, and maybe the rest of us can learn from it.
