Building a robot?

Postby Tetsuwan Penguin » 12 years ago

As Jeffbert has pointed out in another thread,
http://www.astroboy-online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8253

AI systems have a long way to go before they become as smart as a pre-teen, let alone sentient. Still, humanoid robots are making progress:

I started to wonder about building a robotic 'puppet', IE: something that might not have any intelligence at all, but could serve as the basis for developing simple systems. I found this:

I need to google for how to work with using fiberglass-epoxy to make a 'shell' to go around something like this. I figure I can control the movement of eyes with 7 servos (includes eyebrows) and 2 more the mouth. That's just for the head, but it's a logical place to start. Sorta kinda a do it yourself audioanimatronics.
