There's a thread for The Legend of Zelda, so why not make one for everyone's favorite Italian plumber and his series of games? Basically, just use this thread to discuss your experiences with Mario games, what Mario games you like or dislike, or anything else about Mario you feel like discussing! (As long as it follows the forum rules obviously.)
I haven't been able to play any of the recent Mario games on the Wii U or 3DS, but I have played a good bit of the Mario games before that. The newest one I've played is Super Mario Galaxy 2, which I thought was excellent and a good follow-up to the first Galaxy.
My favorite Mario game is probably Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. It's still my favorite RPG to this day, though Xenoblade is a very, very close second. Great story, easy to pick up and play, interesting characters, and one of my all-time favorite video game soundtracks.
I also love the first few Mario Partys (I've only played 1 through 4). Lots of great shenanigans can go on in those games.

Haha, I started playing Mario Party when I was five/six or something.
They're really great with all the variety of mini-games. It always felt awesome when my favorite one was chosen. Does that happen with everybody?
I did finish Super Mario Galaxy 2 (alongside my brother), but that data is gone now. It was really great, but personally I prefer the first one. It just has this thing about it that makes me enjoy it more. I've also seen this thing (pointed out by other people) that freaks me out. It's some sort of.... blob people staring at you from some hill. It reminds me of the Drawn to Life shadow monsters, but.... unnerving.
Actually, I don't play Mario much anymore, it's generally Pokemon or Ni No Kuni. This thread is making me want to pull the 64 out and play Mario Kart, though.

That was definitely true for me. It seems like you either loved or hated certain mini-games in Mario Party. I can't remember any off the top of my head because of how long it's been since I played any of the MP games, but I know I always looked forward to certain mini-games being chosen.

I've been considering replaying through them since I've only beaten them once. I do seem to remember liking Galaxy 2 a little more, but both games have their pros and cons.
Not sure what the blob is that you're referring to. First thing that comes to mind is the Blarggs, but I'm guessing that's not what you're referring to.

I've wanted to try Ni No Kuni, but I don't own a PS3. Maybe someday...
Ah yes, Mario Kart 64. My personal favorite of the series. Lots of great memories of playing against friends and family in that game. I always like to play as Luigi or Donkey Kong in that game.

I really don't know, but you can't interact with them because they're part of the background.
I looked into it, and apparently they're supposed to be based off the Kodama, a tree spirit that curses you if you cut down the tree that houses them.
Here's a picture of them.

My siblings are really competitive with this. I even accidentally taught my brother how to use green shells effectively.

Ah, okay. That's definitely not the Blarggs.
Just did a quick Google search and came up with this, which gives a good explanation as to what they are:

Someone in the comments on that page also mentioned what you did: that they resemble kodamas from Japanese folklore. Next time I play that game, I'll have to find that. Very interesting.

Gotta love the green shells, especially when you use them and they go all over the track and randomly hit people when they least expect it.

Yeah, it's not to hard to use them once you get the hang of it.
