Matrix Digital Rain

If you've ever seen the Matrix movies you've seen the weird scrolling green "digital rain" on the computer screens. It seems that the characters scrolling down were half width Kana characters, based on the katakana "alphabet". Now I wonder if someone stuck ｱﾄﾑ in there.

It is a possibility. Although, I think they where more inspired by Ghost in a Shell when they created the film.
