What an absolutely brutal year this has been for celebrity deaths. 2016 has not been kind, and it seems it's not going quietly into the night.
Princess Leia was one of the first, if not the first empowering female figures in movies. Without her, I don't think you would've seen as much, if any strong female leads in movies. Carrie Fisher herself was an empowering female figure in real life as well, emblematic of the character she portrayed in Star Wars.
Princess Lea (Carrie Fisher) was cast in the next Star Wars episode. I wonder if they will recast her character, write her out of the plot, or put her in digitally. I certainly can't see a Star Wars movie being made with someone else in that role.
Except for a few tears over Don Francks, this is the only celebrity death this year that really made me cry. Sure I was bummed about the others, but this one was as personal as it can get with the death of a celebrity you've never personally met.
Baby, don't let it slip, it's a once in a lifetime ship and it's never gonna come again...
