Might be of interest to some people here and given the number of Aussies around ^^; The uni has it's arts weeks on now and as part of that the anime club SUAnime is holding 2 nights of films at the Valhalla in Glebe. 2 films each night are being shown starting at 6:30pm or close to it. For details of the movies and everything:

http://www.suanime.org/chopsticks

MONDAY 13 SEPTEMBER: Azumi & Twilight Samurai
TUESDAY 14 SEPTEMBER: The Eye & The Grudge

The Eye is a Hong Kong film and the rest are Japanese. Tickets are $12 which is pretty good for 2 movies (unless you're a usyd student like me then they are $7
:D )

Yay now i'll watch this post drift into the void ^^;; Probably my last plug seeing as our AGM is soon so new lot of executives ^^

The Eye?!

why oh why show The Eye?!
the sequel was laughable. especially when Shu Qi, and mind you...her character is pregnant) jumps off a hospital building, and climbs her way back up again only to jump....again...

heh, usually seeing anything with Shu qi in it is a fair rental, but I gotta agree here. That one was pretty ordinary.

I almost feel ashamed to say it, but I still think her best stuff was in the transporter, altho So Close was pretty entertaining in a 'bad movie' kind of way.

But the eye is not that bad. the sequel was bad, but the one they are showing is an interesting movie that I am sure will keep people watching, and not in a "traffic accident stare" kind of way either.
three and a half years.. for what?

Hmmm i don't know anything much about the films myself... but we weren't given much of a choice as to what to show :S its what was available for the cinema to use....it costs a lot to try and get your hands on something they don't have access to and we're just an anime club so not exactly made of money ^^;; haha oh well.

The Transporter....her best? you gotta be kidding me! i've seen her done better..
although i have to admit Shu Qi's acting was great in "The Eye 2". but she was great in "Viva Erotica".

for some reason, i don't like Angelica Li (Li Shin-Jie). too petite...
