I disagree that this is real animation and found the whole film disturbing. I don't consider rotoscoping animation, and this to me is in the same boat. Falls into a catagory of what is referred to as the 'uncanny valley' (http://www.arclight.net/~pdb/glimpses/valley.html) where as something approaches looking human but is not quite human, people find it disturbing and cannot relate with it (perhaps this explains people's prejudice against astroboy! ;) .
Bombs vs. bombs, missiles vs. missiles and now a new super weapon to throw upon us all!

The Polar express is NOT rotoscoping... The PCT only controls the CGI and is used for expression. :D Movement in places. Just like spiderman(and he has no facial expression, but doc ock has) and every other CGI character. Golem,Fantastic four etc. But the Polar express IMAX is coming and The Polar Express is forever. The equiptment is now in place and all of Animation will get on board. Those that don't, shall not, or won't translate, into the Ginza sectors, and the 'Ginza Sharks" will frenzy upon them in the Regions... . :wahah:
I gotta go "Optimize and Defrag my drives"

That is the most terrifying thing you've said so far.

I love what pixar is doing with 3D, but if it comes down to that, I say burn all the computers go back to hand animation! Polar Express isn't the future, unless that future doesn't involve human beings!!!

Tom Hanks is a human being and so is toby, but they can't do what the animated CGI can do..... :D Polar Express merely demonstrates what can be done....

I have seen neither of these, but I have seen Gh in the Shell II, & although the people were 2d, the world was stunningly 3d, even the audio was cool. I have seen a few 5.1 titles, some of which would have been the same without rear speakers. I was very dissapointed with the Star Wars DVD 4-6. There simply was very little rear speaker activity. When shot were fired from front to back, or back to front, I would not have known, unless I kept my eyes on the screen. But Ghost II had fabulous 3d sound! So did Cyborg 009, but its video was far from 3d.

The boss guy in Ghost II had hair that was less like Bozo's than depictions of him in Standalone.
