What's strange is that if I run the SVCD on my computer with WinDVD, everything is just perfect, but I get a stretched image with my DVD player connected to my TV...  <_<

OK, that means there is nothing wrong with the SVCD you authored, all that means is that your DVD player is stoopid :D
I get that with my DVD player too. Some widescreen movies get streched vertically to fit the screen and I have no control over it.
It's fine on other DVD players.

snorkyller: I wonder if a change in the "advanced" tab would help...
Source aspect ratio = 1:1 (VGA)
Video arrange method = Ful screen

I agree with Anapan, try playing with those advanced settings. Especially resolution and apsect ratio.

If possible, use a CD-RW so you can erase it if you make a mistake.

I tryied another thing.
Instead of letting the converting software setting the fullscreen resolution I set myself the resolution...
So, Instead of setting "Video arrange method" to "Full screen (keep aspect ratio)", I set it to "Center (custom size)" than I set the right size (480x381)
--> 320x280 becomes 480x381 at full screen with the same aspect ratio.

In the converting application (TMPEGenc) you can see a preview of the MPG. It was perfect... But I got yet again a stretched image when I played the MPG with WinDVD.

But what is strange is that if I play it with WindowsMediaPlayer, the image is PERFECT!
(?????)

Why? Which software should I trust?

I'm totally confused... Whatever the settings, the result is always EXACTLY the same. So I wonder if it's the DVD player which stretch and modify the image when playing the MPG... Is it possible?

Thank you for any help

Maybe I should shearch for "Nero Burning" with Kazaa and crack it to do like Anapan: just convert with Nero Burning....

Yes, that would be it. My DVD player stretches A Knight's Tale, but it's fine on my computer and in other DVD players. It's an LG brand by the way.

It'd trust Windows Media Player, it's the most consistently accurate for playback that I've found.

There should be a way to crop the picture correctly, but set the encoding size to "Center (custom size)" at the right resolution (480x480 is it?). This will encode the black bars around the image as part of the image so your player won't have anywhere to stretch it to.
I hope that makes sense!

I found the solution!! YEAAH B)

I just tried to make a VCD instead of a SVCD and it was all just perfect!!!!

I don't know why it didn't work whit a SVCD. Too bad 'cause the image quality was really good... even much better than the image quality of the Astroboy VHS which I bought recently (3 for 50$ :angry :) .
Anyway, the image quality of the VCD is good too...

Thank you for your help, I appreciated it... ;) :) :)

I was more helped here than in some "video convertion" forums and in the TMPGenc web site where I got almost no help....
